Yurting

I find that I go through different seasons in my life and this year has become the season of travel for me. I love travelling and have always had a wanderlust spirit but this year particularity has brought me to so many unique places with so many of my dearest. Last year on the new moon right before New Years I wrote a list of things I wanted to create in my life for the year. It was something I would just visit from time to time and found myself checking off these dream experiences that I had envisioned for my year. One of those happened to be staying at a yurt. I actually crossed it out mid year and replaced it with cabin because I didn't think I would be able to get to it, a dream for another year I thought. Well it happened! I went yurting as we coined it. That is some powerful intention right there.

This is the only two-storey yurt in Canada I believe and it was newly built by the owners of the buffalo farm. Only a handful of people got to experience this beauty before us. It was truly one of the most magical places I have stayed in! The property itself was gorgeous, a sprawling farm by a river in Mattawa, Ontario. Experiencing the autumn sunset was something I will never forget. The sky was filled with hues of pink, purple and orange that seemed to light up the entire sky over the farm and forest. The sunset seemed to last for hours as we stood in awe of natures gift to us. The yurt turned into a dreamland that we never wanted to leave. The inside of the yurt was meticulously curated with antiques, candles, a wood-burning stove, vintage Hudson's Bay blankets, poetry and wildlife books and plenty of wood to keep you cozy all night. The yurt was truly a labour of love and handcrafted with materials from the land. It is a place that brings you back to a simpler time amongst the faint stillness of the woods, a time where your nights are illuminated by candlelight, a time where things are crafted with love and honour for the craft. I had the most incredible experience and just couldn't help saying thank you thank you thank you to the universe for granting my wish. Oh and the stars were pure magic...
