A Southern Wedding
Where do I even begin! I have written about this crazy love story before and I am going to try and do a recap before telling you about their official wedding ceremony on a humid but perfectly steamy southern day in May. If you want to read the full story you can read it here. The story goes: two Aussies and a Canadian drive down to Savannah on a southern road trip, end up at an American legion and find themselves with a group of locals on a sailboat at midnight. That is where Kirstie and Jeff serendipitously met and started their love story.
All of our friends from Toronto plus Kirstie's Australian clan gathered in Savannah this past May for the official wedding. This would be their second as I was privileged to witness their first one during New Years by 'The Rev.' It was the most perfect weekend in such a gorgeous and unique place. Savannah definitely has a place in my heart, its small town charms, romantic streets, sweeping porches and most importantly the vegan breakfast burrito from The Bean. Everything about the day was diy, Kirstie was collecting jars for months! Our gal friends gathered the morning of to decorate the restaurant's back terrace, a garden oasis with antique chandeliers and swings. Me and Kirstie and her other bestie Ash got ready together, drinking champagne and getting our hair and makeup done. They wrote their own vows and had one of their best friends, Savannah Nick, marry them. Kirstie's sister who couldn't attend the wedding because well Australia is very far!! She gave the best surprise of the night, recording a speech to be played at the reception, it was the most beautiful thing and incredible moment. Then we danced the night away to the likes of Elton John and Ed Sheeran of course. The whole night was pure magic and the perfect southern wedding.
Here are a collection of photos from the weekend and the wedding. I am wearing a For Love and Lemons dress rented from my amazing friends at The Fitzroy.
